What a solo dentist should set up first

One chair still needs a schedule, a note on the patient, and a copy of the list you can open outside the software.

You do not need a group rollout

A solo dentist is the front desk and the clinician. The setup that helps is small: tomorrow's book, the patient you are in the middle of treating, and a way to leave with your list.

Skip multi-site settings, campaign tools and a full archive import. Those wait until someone else is also editing the day.

Do these three things

  1. Put the next two weeks of appointments on the calendar.
  2. Open a record for each of those patients with a phone number and the visit you are in.
  3. Export the list and keep that file next to your original sheet.

How a spreadsheet compares explains when the sheet is still enough. The first week on free software is the same idea for a clinic that already has a second person at the desk.

If the export fails, stop and fix that before you type in years of names. A workspace you cannot copy is not a backup.
